In a pressure cooker add soaked green peas, carrots, onions and tomatoes. Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of water.

Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles on medium flame and let the pressure come down naturally.

Mash the peas and carrots until coarse using a potato masher. If it is too thick, add around 1/4 cup of water.

Add all the spice powders – Kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, roasted jeera powder, garam masala powder, chaat masala powder, turmeric powder and salt.

Cook the peas masala for 5-6 mins until it boils well.

Add jaggery powder and fresh coriander leaves. Mix well.

Peas masala is now ready to prepare the tikki chaat.

To make Peas potato soya Tikki Chaat :

Roughly chop the peas potato soya tikkis on the serving plate.

Pour 2-3 ladles of the hot tikki peas masala on all over the peas potato soya tikkis.

Now sprinkle a tsp or two of spicy green chutney, finely chopped onions, coriander leaves and a generous sprinkle of chaat masala. Also sprinkle sev on top, if using.

Serve hot immediately.

Aps Notes

You can use dried yellow peas, chole/garbanzo beans/chickpeas instead of dried green peas.

Adjust spices as per you preference.

This is not a authentic recipe but a trial that was liked in my house. If you like this recipe and try it out do let me know.

You can top it up with whisked  yogurt(add in 1 tbsp sugar to 1 cup yogurt and whisk) too, As I have have done both on the same day.

What I do sometimes is I add a tbsp of spicy chutney and a tsp of sweet chutney in the masala and it gives a excellent flavour.
