Sannapolo is a Konkani dish.
Sanna means small and polo means dosa. So the word sanapolo means
small dosa.
This is not like the regular dosa or like utthappa but it’s
a spicy dosa.
For Mashinga Palle Sannapolo we need
Ingredients:
Mashinga Pallo/drumstick leaves/moringa leaves – 2 cups
Coconut grated- 1 cup
Red chillies 6-7
A small gooseberry sized tamarind
1/2 tsp asafoetida
1 cup white rice
1/4 th cup toor dal
Salt to taste
Coconut oil for frying(feel free to use oil of your choice, but coconut oil gives best taste)
Method:
Wash Mashinga pallo/drumstick leaves/moringa leaves and chop it roughly and keep aside.
Wash rice and toor dal together and soak for 4-5 hours.
Strain and keep for later use.
In a blender grind coconut, red chillies,hing/asafoetida and salt into a smooth paste. To this add soaked rice and toor dal and grind it into a semolina consistency. Not too smooth not too coarse.
Transfer this into a bowl and add chopped mashinga pallo and mix well.
Heat a flat pan/tawa. Brush a little. Pour one laddle of batter and pour oil on sides.
Cover and cook dosa on one side on medium flame for 3 minutes, pour oil on top and flip on the other side and cook for 3 minutes or until the other side has turned crisp.
Cook dosa on both sides till crisp.
Serve hot with Dal and rice.
Aps Notes:
You can increase the quantity of drumstick leaves to a cup more for this measurement.
Add chillies according to your spice tolerance.
