Thekkare in tulu, meaning cucumber masala is a salad made to relish as a snack
salad. It’s a quick salad that his crunchy and has a spicy and tangy flavor
with a hint of raw coconut flavour.
Lets get to make thekkare masala
Ingredients:
Cucumber -2 small or 1 large
Onions – 1 medium
Coriander leaves finely chopped – 2 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp+ a little to sprinkle on the
cucumbers
Salt to taste + a little to sprinkle on the cucumbers
Coconut oil 1 tsp
Lime juice – ½ tsp
Method:
Wash cucumbers and remove the top and bottom of cucumbers
and throw it away.
Slice them into roundels and place on a serving plate.
For the masala
Peel the onion and finely chop it. To this add coriander leaves,
salt, chilly powder, coconut oil and lime juice. Mix well.
Sprinkle some salt and chilly powder on the cucumber roundels/slices.
Add the prepared masala on the cucumber slices and enjoy!
Aps Notes:
Adjust spice according to your spice tolerance. We prefer
lightly spiced and I have used Kashmiri chilli powder here.
You can omit coconut oil but it gives a extra kick to the
salad.
You can sprinkle a little sambar powder on the cucumber slices
it gives a extra flavour. All these are small tips to enhance the taste of this
salad.
