Harve Kele Shevai|Baalekaayi Shavige|Raw banana sevai
This recipe was shared by bhat and bhat channel which was
very interesting and we tried it the very next day but it got delayed to post
here.
Recipe for Baalekaayi Shavige is below.
Ingredients:
Raw banana – 4 (these are bananas we use for chips.i.e raw nendrabaale)
Turmeric powder- 1/4th tsp
Tamarind- a small piece
Jaggery- 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Water around 3cups
Coconut oil – 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
Urad dal- 1/2 tsp
Dry red chilli -2
Curry leaves a sprig
Chopped onion – 1 large
Green chilli- 1-2
Grated coconut -1/2cup
Method:
Wash the bananas and slit them from sides and peel of the
skin.
In a pressure cooker add in the bananas and 3 cups of water,
turmeric powder, salt to taste,jaggery and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or till
cooked completely.
When cooked allow them to cool slightly and take a Shevai
presser and press them into shevai. You can use the chakli maker and use the
fine shevai press and do the same.
When all the bananas are pressed into shevai lets prepare to
temper them.
Heat a deep bottom pan, add in coconut oil when hot add in
urad dal,mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
Now add in green chilli,red chilli broken into pieces, curry
leaves and toss it for a second.
Now add in chopped onions and saute it till the onions cook,
there is no need to brown the onions.
Now add in pressed banana shevai and grated fresh coconut
mix well. Cover and cook for 2 minutes. Check for salt and adjust accordingly.
Serve hot with a cup of tea or coffee.
